Disney Waterparks tips and tricks

I said it before, and I’ll say it again,  The absolute cheapest way to go to Walt Disney World is to go to the Parks for 2 days, and the 2 Disney Waterparks for 2 days.  I wrote all about how to do that for cheap here.

Walt Disney World has 2 amazing waterparks, Blizzard Beach, and Typhoon Lagoon.

They are both fantastically themed, and the cleanest waterparks that I have ever been to.  Of course, being Disney-fied makes them amazing, but there are still some tips and tricks that you should know before heading for a day in the sun.

  • Wear a 1 piece bathing suit:

Ladies, I’m talking to you here.  Don’t be that mom who’s bikini top falls off when you are trying to get back in your tube in the lazy river.  Its not a cute look.

  • Wear water shoes:

Just because you are at Disney, doesn’t make other people less disgusting.   For the sake of your feet, just wear the shoes.  Trust me.

  • Take a cooler:

Don’t be the sucker that has to pay $4 for a bottle of water. Have drinks and snacks delivered to your resort from Amazon or Garden Grocer for way cheaper. This will keep your kids and your wallet happy at the same time, which is a hard thing to achieve.

  • Take your own towels:

The ones for rent there are small anyways. If anything, bring resort towels for free.

  • Sunblock: everyone reading this should know by now that you need to wear sunblock.  Don’t be that guy who gets so burned that he can’t enjoy the rest of his vacation.
  • Get there early:

The parks can get packed on hot summer days.  Be prepared to get there asap.  Another good time to go is in the late afternoons, after the usual daily summer rain.  You could practically have the park to yourself then!

  • Put your phone in a waterproof case:

You can buy one before you go, for way cheaper than buying one at Disney. Nobody wants to be drying out there phone in a bag of rice on vacation.

  • Set up a spot to be home base:

Older kids can run amok and you will know that eventually they will turn back up for food.  Disney is great about lifeguards, and if your kids are old enough, its a great day to let them go run and be free!
