The Mickeyprep family just got back from A week long vacation at Universal Studios Orlando, and Cabana Bay Beach Resort and boy oh boy did we have a good time!
Of course a week at any theme park while staying in property is going to be expensive, but I am here to give my tips and tricks on saving money at Universal Studios Orlando and Cabana Bay Beach Resort.
First thing’s first: check Raise.com for discounted Universal Studios gift cards and gift cards to the many many many restaurants on Universal’s City Walk area. You can save a lot of money if you know where to look and plan ahead on where you want to eat.
Second, there is a Walmart down the road from Universal Studios. Drive or take an Uber there on your first day, and stock up on waters, snacks, and breakfast foods. If you are staying at Cabana Bay like we did, they have a refrigerator and microwave in your room.
Adult pro tip: bring or buy adult beverages and keep them in your room! This will save you a ton of money. Beers are $10 at the pool bars. Just be a little sneaky about it.
Third, eat kid’s meals for lunch. Cabana Bay has an awesome food court called The Bayliner Diner, they serve several kid’s menu lunch options including chicken fingers, pizza, mahi mahi, pasta, and more. They are like $6 and come with
Fourth, for an inexpensive and delicious quick dinner, go to the pool bar at Cabana Bay called the Atomic Tonic. Awesome Mediterranean food! I got a falafel wrap and coleslaw for $8 and it was one of the best things I ate on vacation!
Fifth, buy a refillable mug for your resort stay. Cabana Bay has refillable mugs are $8.99-$17.99 for the length of your stay, depending how ling you will be there. We bought one for our three kids to share, and it worked out great (surprisingly). On our time at the pools, they would just take turns refilling the mug with whatever they wanted.
